|  | |  |  |  | | | The gold panning activity at the Miner's Cottage has become a very successful educational experience for hundreds of school-age children in the Townsville - Charters Towers region.
For over five years, the cottage staff have been involved in teaching young students and international visitors the correct way to "Pan for Real alluvial gold.
The proprietor and owner of the cottage (Mr. Alan Silverwood)
is an experienced bush prospector/surveyor and enjoys passing on his skills to interested people.

The cost for the panning activity is currently $15.00 per student/visitor. Note that this price includes tuition and the gold found becomes a unique souvenir of the experience.
This price also includes entry to the cottage museum/interpretive centre. Parents and Teachers that accompany the students are free of charge. (not including gold panning activity)
